Summer Solstice 2007

(Falls around the 21st of December in the Southern Hemisphere. For information on the Southern Wheel of the Year, click the label at end of post.)

Conflict and Confusion

Christmas (Winter Solstice/Yule) on the Christian and secular calender and Summer Solstice (Litha) on the Pagan calender fell in the same week. I celebrated both.

To avoid doing my head in with the conflicting and overlapping symbols of those two festivals, I displayed Christmas symbols on one side of the room and Summer Solstice symbols on the other, and I performed the Neopagan rituals of the Summer Solstice at the astronomical Solstice and saw my family and non-Pagan friends on the 25th.
